Product Categories

The Product Categories page lists all product categories (shared PCG or custom). You can create, edit, or delete custom categories and link each category to a revenue (sales) account.

Key Features

• Category table: name (FR/EN/AR), revenue account, shared/custom badge
• Search and filters: search by name; filter by “All”, “Shared (PCG)”, or “Custom”
• Create / edit: multilingual name, revenue account, sort order
• Delete: available only for custom categories (shared PCG categories cannot be deleted)

Step-by-Step Tasks

Add a Category

1. Click Add category
2. Fill in the French name (required), English and Arabic names
3. Enter the Revenue account (e.g., 7111) — required
4. Set the Sort order (number; default is max existing + 10)
5. Click Save

Edit a Custom Category

1. Click the category row in the table (shared categories are not editable)
2. Update the name, revenue account, or sort order
3. Click Save

Delete a Category

1. Open a custom category (shared categories are protected: the delete button is absent)
2. Click Delete
3. Confirm deletion in the dialog

Tips

• Shared (PCG) categories are provided by the chart of accounts; they cannot be edited or deleted
• Use a clear name in each language for easier report reading
• The sort order controls how categories appear in lists and product reports

Troubleshooting

• Cannot edit a category: check if the “Shared (PCG)” badge is present — these categories are locked
• Deletion error: the category is linked to existing products; check dependencies
• Save button inactive: the French name and revenue account are required fields
