General Journal

The General Journal displays all accounting entries for the current fiscal year. Each row represents an entry with its journal, date, number, account, label, status (draft or validated), and debit/credit amounts.

The table groups journal entry lines. If no accounting period is selected, the table is empty with an informational message. If a fiscal year is active, the table shows all entries for that year.

  • Journal filter: select a journal code from the dropdown to show only its entries. The “All” option resets the filter.
  • Status filter: two filter buttons show only draft or only validated entries.
  • Search: a search field filters rows by account, label, or entry number.
  • Excel export: downloads a .xlsx file with visible rows (including the active journal filter and selected period).
  • PDF export: downloads a .pdf file with the same filtered content.
  • Link to entry: clicking an entry number opens its edit page (/accounting/entries/edit/?id=...).
  1. Go to /accounting/general-journal.
  2. Ensure an accounting period (fiscal year) is selected in the period selector; otherwise the table remains empty.
  3. Use the journal filter to isolate a journal (sales, purchases, miscellaneous operations, etc.).
  4. Use the status filter to distinguish draft entries from validated ones.
  1. Apply a journal filter if needed.
  2. Click the Excel or PDF download icon in the page header.
  3. The generated file uses the active filter and selected period.
  1. Find the entry marked Draft (shown by the status badge).
  2. Click its number to open the edit page.
  3. After correction, validate the entry; it will move to Validated status.
  • The table footer shows the total debits and credits of visible rows (after filter and status). Ensure these totals match for a balanced fiscal year.
  • The journal filter also applies to exports: you can export only the sales journal if needed.
  • If an exercise recalculation error (anError) occurs, a warning banner appears at the top of the page. Check your entries and contact support if the issue persists.
  • Empty table: no accounting period is selected or no entries exist for the active fiscal year. Check the period selector at the top of the page.
  • No rows after filtering: the journal or status filter is too restrictive. Reset with “All” and “All statuses”.
  • Export fails: check your connection. An error message appears via the notification system.
  • “Exercise recalculation failed” banner: indicates an automatic balance calculation issue. Do not delete entries manually without consulting an accountant.
